Being a Northern car (even after lots of patching years ago) there was a lot of rot. The rear frame rails and torque box's were removed and new ones put in. The last 40 or so of the rail is removed and a straight piece is put in its place to allow for more tire clearance.
The picture above shows just how much patching has been done to the existing floor. It still needs more. But instead of more patching we have decided to remove the floor and transmission tunnel. The tunnel is structural on the uni-body car. But the car is getting a full cage and a lot of bracing to handle the extra torque of the motor. This should help save some weight.
As can be seen the engine compartment is completely removed. The firewall is also going under the knife. The bulge for the heater box is getting removed so that the firewall is flat. This will add a bit of room. The lower frame rails were rusted and had to be patched.
