Project Car Update 5

The cage is really coming along.  The seat brackets were added and we got a chance to check placement.  We were a bit worried the seat placement would feel too weird.  But after the seat cover was put on (it has about 3" of padding in the seat) the seat location felt fine.

This is from the rear.  You can get a good idea of the cage work from this photo.

Photos of the inside from the rear. The car will have two seats, they can be swapped from side to side.

In the previous update we mentioned the potential problem with the shock mounts being in single shear.  Here are the updated mounts.  The upper has been braced to the cage.  The lower may need some more bracing.

Another two pictures of the engine.  The header between the collector and the turbo was lengthened slightly to clear the motor plate.  Another change in this update is that the engine now sits 1/8 of inch higher in the front.  When it was level a 1 degree pinion angle was calculated.  Raising the front decreased the angle to about 0.4 degrees.

The second photo is a view of the exhaust exit out of the passenger side turbo.  The exhaust will run into a oval tube under the car (for clearance issues) and exit in front of the rear wheels.

...develop, race, win!
